Organic Seed Alliance Seeks an Experienced Executive Director
This is an outstanding opportunity to lead an organization that is positioned to have a transformative influence on organic agriculture in the United States. The successful candidate must have extensive non-profit and administrative experience; proven expertise in financial management, strategic planning, fundraising, and grant writing. Knowledge of organic agriculture is a plus but not required. Position will be based in Port Townsend, WA. Organic Center Job Positions

Database and Modeling Expert

The Organic Center is seeking an individual with a high level of proficiency in spreadsheet and database design and programming (especially Excel, Access), and ideally also in SQL and other programming languages to design, develop and maintain web-based processes and database applications.

This is a 25% to 75% time position. Compensation will be determined by experience and the scope of work commitment.

Applicants are especially encouraged to apply from the following areas: Wallowa County, Oregon; the Moscow, ID or Pullman, WA areas; or, the Boulder, CO region.

The applicant will be responsible for building, maintaining, and helping utilize a wide array of databases used to support Organic Center modeling projects. Valuable skills include familiarity with pesticide use and risk assessment methods, methods to quantify the relative nutritional quality of food, and graphics and design expertise.

Dairy Sector Senior Science Fellow

The Organic Center is seeking a 25% to 75% time senior professional with expertise in the dairy industry spanning both dairy farm management systems and milk quality and safety. Compensation will be determined by experience and the scope of work commitment.

This is a "virtual" position that is open nationally and will not require relocation. The ideal candidate will be able to contribute significantly to:
o Dairy farm environmental footprint analyses.
o Improvements in TOC's dairy farm calculator.
o Research on milk quality and safety.

The Dairy Sector Science Fellow will be responsible for helping to broaden TOC's science base and activities in the dairy sector. The Fellow will also support TOC efforts to pursue additional science program funding to support work in this area.

Global Food Security Senior Science Fellow

The Organic Center is seeking 25% to 75% time senior professional with years of relevant professional experience to help build the Center's technical program in the international food security and agricultural development arena. This will be a "virtual" position that does not require relocation. Candidates are encouraged to apply from any region of the country. Compensation will be determined by experience and the scope of work commitment.

The Global Food Security Fellow will lead TOC efforts in shaping and responding to the evolving debate over the potential relative contributions of organic farming, conventional agriculture, and GE crops in promoting global food security. The individual will help TOC recognize opportunities to provide technical information on the performance and benefits of organic farming systems, especially among organizations working to identify the most promising investment options to promote sustainable global food security.

In addition, the individual will be responsible for helping the Center design and carry out key analytical work in this area. This will entail both creating new and utilizing existing analytical models useful in placing into perspective the impacts of alternative agricultural development policies and investment priorities. Ability to help the Center identity and secure new sources of funding to expand program activities will be a valuable attribute.

Intern Opportunities

The Center is seeking interns willing to serve as outreach, communications, and research assistants. Necessary skills include experience with standard scientific search engines and bibliographic software (especially Endnotes and/or Reference Manager); familiarity with website design, functionality, and navigation; and some academic work in a biological or life science. Experience with database management/analytical software (Excel/Access) would be a plus.
